Rally Co-ordination and Club Rules

Club rallies are held on the 1st Sunday and the 3rd Saturday of each month. Occasionally it is necessary to vary a rally date; members will be notified of changes by email.

Potential new members are welcome to attend one free rally, if a place is available. Any prospective members should contact the rally coordinator. (See committee page for contact details of rally coordinator)

The rally coordinator notifies members of the upcoming rally by email and will state a RSVP date and time. This is necessary to allow the rally coordinator sufficient time to adjust the number of instructors booked to maintain an acceptable instructor/rider ratio. When booking please inform the rally coordinator if you will wish to jump or will be attending the flat session only.

Groups are limited to a maximum of 5 riders.

A late response eg. After the RSVP time, will not guarantee a position in a riding group. In this instance a position will be allocated only if there is a group with less than 5 riders. If there are no available positions, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a place becomes available.

In the event a member attends rally without notifying the rally coordinator. They will be accepted into a group only if there are less than five riders in that group.

The rally coordinator will notify members of group allocation at the latest by the Wednesday 5pm prior to the rally. Cancellations to rally bookings should be made to the rally coordinator ASAP as cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to rally will incur a $15 cancellation fee.

Riders who fail to give the 48 hours cancellation noticed should direct debit the late cancellation fee into the STAAR account:–

        • Bendigo Bank
        • BSB 633 000
        • A/C 1128 11393.

You will not be eligible to ride at any future rallies until the money is received into the account. On transferring the money into the STAAR account can you please email the rally coordinator a receipt /evidence of the transaction. The 48 hour noticed is strict and applies to all members.

Please ensure you are on the grounds warmed up and ready to ride at your allocated group time. Latecomers joining a group are a disruption to both riders and instructors. The club understands that sometimes arriving late is unavoidable eg. horse has other ideas about being caught, floated etc. To minimize disruption any latecomers are asked to warm up in a separate area and then join their group unobtrusively.

The first rally session commences on the allocated hour and runs for 55 minutes the second sessions commence 5 minutes after the allocated hour i.e. 10.05. The ten minute breaks give you time to clean up any manure you horse may have deposited during the lesson and change saddle for those that need to. We also encourage riders to wear a medical arm band at rally in case of an emergency. These can be purchased through the club.

All members attending rally will be asked at some time to another to erect or dismantle jumps needed for the lesson. The rally coordinator will nominated which groups this applies to at the time of group allocation.

Please don’t be offended if you are gently reminded by another club member your assistance is required on the arena.

All club members (full, associate and Friday only members) are also expected to assist in at least two club functions whether that is a working bee or a fundraising event. Please remember this club only functions as a result of membership input and support and that should not end on the payment of fees.

Welfare of our equine friends is a priority at STAAR, so we have a policy for extreme weather days. Rally days that are forecasted to be 38c and above will be cancelled as are day that have an extreme weather event forecasted by authorities  such as high winds and storms.  The rally coordinator will notify you by email 24 hours prior  if the upcoming rally is cancelled due to extreme weather. Rain alone will not cause the cancellation of a rally. If you choose to cancel due to weather conditions on the day then the late cancellation fee applies.

Over the warmer month all rally sessions will commence at 9am winter rally time commence from the 1st of May to the 30th September. During this period there will be one 9am session and two 10 am sessions. You may request your time preference which will be allocated on a first in first served basis.

STAAR also offers a Friday ‘pay as you ride’ rally. Rally commences at 10 am and consists of an hour flat session for the cost of $20 dollars to be paid on the day. A cancellation fee of $15 applies. Friday membership enquires should be made to Julie Mills at jmill21@bigpond.com. Friday members can also attend a weekend rally at a cost of $30 this however is on the condition there is a vacancy after all members with FULL membership have been accommodated. Notify the weekend rally coordinator by email you would like to attend an upcoming rally and that you you’re a Friday membership holder.

STAAR prides themselves on being a friendly club and welcomes riders and horses of all levels, types and discipline. For any queries in relation to club rallies please contact the rally coordinator. (See committee page for contact details)
